We are delighted to be carrying out this study in support of Southern Water’s Net Zero ambitions. This work will build on the existing partnership between the two organisations and provide beneficiary findings to properly implement an EV road map to convert all fleet vehicles to sustainable alternatives.

The study, which will build on the existing partnership between both organisations, will provide data across several areas including an analysis of the existing fleet, estimations on economic impact, assessment of charging technologies, as well as provide an EV roadmap to enable a phased roll-out approach.

Both organisations have been working collaboratively to assist in delivering Southern Water’s Net Zero commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030 – the benchmark target of the water industry.

As part of our environmental ambition, we’re committed to reducing our carbon emissions. We’ve already made positive progress towards our targets and this new EV strategy will set us up for success in the next phase of our efforts. We look forward to working with UK Power Networks Services to put our fleet on the road towards electrification.

In addition to this study, UK Power Networks Services continues to provide operation and maintenance support for 70 of Southern Water’s high voltage sites across the UK. This work so far has produced positive results through the reduction of overall maintenance costs, reduced risk of asset failure, increased security of supply and better environmental outcomes for Southern Water.
